Minimum Professional Requirements (MPRs)
Minimum qualifications have been developed to guide potential applicants in deciding if they meet our requirements.
General Minimum Professional Requirements
Native speakers of English (NS)
- Education to first degree level or equivalent
- An internationally recognised TESOL/TEFL qualification
- At least one year’s full time relevant teaching experience
- Provide at least one verifiable recent employment reference
- Age over 23 and under national retirement age
- Either be Colombian national or hold a current Colombian visa, which entitles the holder to work, valid for at least six months from the time of application*
- Provide at least one verifiable recent employment reference
Non Native Speakers of English (NNS)
- A degree in teaching of modern languages with emphasis on English
- At least one year’s full time relevant teaching experience after graduation
- Provide at least one recent verifiable employment reference
- Age over 23 and under national retirement age
- Have a minimum level of CEFR C1 supported by a valid IELTS Test Report Form at band 6.5 or higher (no band score less than 6.5), a valid TOEFL iBT Examinee Score Report at 80 or higher (no scaled score below 20) or have passed the Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English within the last two years.
- Either be Colombian national or hold a current Colombian visa, which entitles the holder to work, valid for at least six months from the time of application*
